Dreams Are Always an Upgrade Away at Bluegreen

“Chasing rainbows.”

Most of us try at one time or the other…for something that always seems to be just out of reach – that elusive pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

And timeshare companies like Bluegreen Vacations are masters at encouraging customers to dream…while also making sure those dreams never really come true.

For years, Richelle’s personal rainbow has been to vacation in Ireland. But, according to the complaint she filed earlier this year with the Better Business Bureau, Bluegreen Vacations has been making sure she spends a pot of gold rather than finds one.

“One of my lifelong dreams has been to travel to Ireland and Bluegreen lied to me telling me how becoming an owner with them would allow me to travel internationally, and specifically to Ireland.”

“My ownership started out fine, except with each short vacation came another required sales presentation, and each presentation they presented me with opportunities to obtain my dream of traveling to Ireland”.

So how did her rainbow chase go?

“I was always just one upgrade away from reaching my goals.”

One upgrade. That’s not bad.

“Four purchases later…”

FOUR. PURCHASES. LATER!

“… and I am only deeper in debt, and I have found out that every presentation, their deceptive sales tactics led me to another purchase.”

And Richelle was no closer to finding that pot of gold.

“With the amount of money I have paid them, I could have traveled to Ireland and back every year since I signed up with Bluegreen.”

“They have crushed my dreams of visiting Ireland and all they care about is taking my money and providing little, if anything, in return!”

We’re so sorry, Richelle. We hope you’ll make it over the rainbow one day.

In the meantime, maybe we should ask Bluegreen president and CEO Alan Levan why Bluegreen is more interested in making people chase their dreams than helping make those dreams come true. You can email him at alan.levan@bluegreenvacations.com.

And let’s ask Jason Gamel, the President and CEO of the American Resort Development Association (ARDA), which represents the timeshare industry in Washington, DC, if it’s right that one of his biggest members does more to defer dreams than fulfill wishes. Jason’s email is jgamel@arda.org.
