We asked for your stories … and you sent them in.

Wow.

Diana S. sent us this about Diamond Resorts:

“My husband and I own a timeshare at an actual resort near us. We used it a lot when the grandkids were little and when we had friends from out of town. It’s paid for and the maintenance is not unfair. HOWEVER, we got invited to a “membership update” to give us info about how our timeshare would be eliminating the maintenance fees. Total bait and switch. They were just trying to sell us another timeshare, but they DID offer us a ‘vacation club membership’, which would allegedly give us discounts on air fare, cruises, resorts, etc. So we fell for it. THEN we start getting billed for TIMESHARE MAINTENANCE FEES. They did not get the ‘fine print’ to us until the date of recission had past. What they TOLD us was a vacation discount membership was just another timeshare.
Do yourself a favor: If the name of the company has Diamond, Emerald, or Sapphire in it, RUN!!!”

James C. sent this one in about BlueGreen:

“It is extremely unprofessional of this company to continue to ignore my request for termination. We have done everything exactly as we were advised to yet our account is still open. Jackie and I regret ever trusting that this company had our best interest at heart and just want to be done with this terrible experience. This needs to be taken care of immediately. Shortly after our purchase I lost my job. We were told that we would have 30 days to cancel our purchase but it had to be done in writing. We did this quickly and were even notified that they had received our letter. They never did anything about it so we called again and they scheduled us for a meeting with an account specialist. This person missed our meeting and we kept trying to reschedule but were ignored. I have spoken with many people since then and continue to receive the run around as to why the account isn’t closed. At this point we have lost all faith in Blue Green. We can not afford to make the payments let alone go on vacation. This has been an extremely stressful situation and we feel as if we are being scammed out of thousands of dollars. All we wanted was to be able to go on vacation for an affordable price but now we aren’t even able to afford necessities. This is not at all what we had in mind when we signed the contract. We are ready to be relieved of this contract and the uncertainty that it brings. At this point we would never book a trip with Blue Green, we can not trust that it would actually provide us with a decent place to stay after the customer service we have received. Please do not prolong this process any longer, we will not stop fighting until the account is closed for good. “

From Norman B regarding Hilton:

“We had similar experience with Hilton. Took $6 K to rid ourselves of them. Time Share is a flat out scam don’t fall for it. One quote stated “ I would rather cut off my right arm than sign a time share”. I agree.”

Mike D. said about BlueGreen:

“My tmeshare presentation was six hours and I paid cash! So there was no time used for financing. We were told it would be a 90 minute presentation. After fully grasping the magnitude of the expense some two years later I tried to sell it to no avail, no price was cheap enough. I ended up hiring a firm for $3000 that actually convinced them to let me give it back to them for free in order to get out of my contract. I paid $9600 for the timeshare and $3000 to get out of it. I purchased my timeshare in Williamsburg Virginia. The kicker here is that while in the presentation you have absolutely no signal in order to check reviews about this timeshare and I have to wonder if that was intentional.”

Another BlueGreen story from David G:

“…never ever buy a timeshare from these or any other it’s a ripoff cost us $15,000 to go on 2 short vacations and hire an attorney firm to protect our credit rating they kept us 5 hrs till we caved to buy NEVER again!!!!

And finally, Mindy N. about BlueGreen:

“Every time we use the facilities they wanted to upgrade us and would not leave us alone to enjoy the time share… Pressure>Pressure!!!! I was so glad for it to go away,  we lost a ton of money, but I just wanted the bills and the pressure to leave.”

Wanna complain to BlueGreen via email?

Well … they have this on their website:  “While the current situation continues to evolve, we appreciate your patience as we respond to our servicing requests as quickly as possible.  At this time, we ask that you please refrain from emailing us so we can promptly answer your questions through our online chat servicing or phone. Owners may call us at (800) 456-2582 and Vacation Guests can reach us at (800) 845-1995.”

You gotta wonder, what is the “current situation” that’s evolving?

Keep those stories coming … our job is making sure people understand what’s really happening.
