Plenty of Blame for Hilton (and Diamond)

If you’re a Diamond Resorts timeshare owner, you can be forgiven for being a little confused.

Who should get the blame for all that’s gone wrong for Diamond owners since Hilton Grand Vacations bought Diamond in 2021 – Hilton or Diamond?

As we scrolled through the hundreds of complaints on file against Hilton and Diamond with the Better Business Bureau, we found one Diamond owner who has the correct answer.

We have been repeatedly lied to by Hilton Grand Timeshare Salespeople.”

They sound pretty certain about who’s to blame.

“Namely, we bought a timeshare from Diamond Resorts and were conned into buying a benefit that would allow us to combine our timeshares and book all in one place.”

Sounds convenient.

“We were advised that Hilton would be acquiring Diamond but were NEVER told that Hilton planned to discontinue the benefit we purchased.”

Hmm. Now it sounds more sneaky than convenient.

“It was a complete bait and switch to take our money and I’m sure they have done it to thousands.”

Sounds about right.

“We were invited away to an owners ‘orientation,’  wined and dined and then told that Hilton refused to honor the benefit we had paid for.”

Sounds bad.

“We were told that to receive this benefit we would have to buy more points. We were devastated and didn’t know there was anything else we could do, so we paid for the points.”

Sounds about par for the course at Hilton and Diamond.

“Over and over again.”

Ditto.

“Long story short, we are thousands in the hole and STILL do not have any of the benefits we paid for.”

NEVER TRUST THIS CROOKED COMPANY.”

There’s certainly plenty of blame to go around between Diamond and Hilton.

But it really all lands in one place: the lap of Mark Wang, the CEO of Hilton Grand VacationsHe’s been in charge of Diamond since Hilton took over. Let’s email him at mark.wang@hgv.com to find out when Hilton intends to start giving Diamond owners the benefits they paid for and deserve.

Maybe Jason Gamel, the CEO and President of the American Resort Development Association (ARDA), the trade association of the timeshare industry, can help.  Let’s email Jason at jason.gamel@arda.org and see if he thinks anything sounds wrong about Hilton is treating Diamond owners.
