Are you feeling in that holiday spirit? Can you see yourself relaxing in the coming weeks in that beautiful timeshare… …the one you have been promised, which you may have even paid off by now? Well… good luck with your holiday booking!! We hear lots of stories about timeshare owners not being able to book “in-season.” Or not even able to book at all… at least, not without an upgrade! Here is what JC told us: “A close cousin of my wife lived in Nashville, Tennessee, and became very ill,was hospitalized, and not expected to survive. We decided that we must go, so I contacted the Wyndham Resort in Nashville to get a place to stay. I was told that there were no vacancies. So I decided to check what we could find using the Wyndham’s Reward Visa… Guess What? The Wyndham Resort showed available rooms… HUH? So I called the Resort again, and asked how it could be that they had a room, if I wanted to pay for it, but none to use my Resort Membership??? I was told that they only had a specific number of rooms for the Vacation Club, and they were all taken. We tried to use it other times, also with negative results…” JP shared this story: “Diamond Resorts has got to be one of the most dishonest companies around. They make a lot of promises that they don’t keep. We always had problems trying to get a vacation location due to no occupancy. They were supposedly booked. When we would call for answers we could count on being in the phone for an hour plus as they would keep transferring us to a different department. Ridiculous. They also really enjoy raising the maintenance fees, ours at the end we’re up to $6000 a year even though we couldn’t use the resorts.” RB told us: We were lied and misled by Wyndham Resorts. We made our payments to no avail. Never got to use anything. Well stopped paying on the timeshare. That’s when things got interesting… When I checked my credit report Wyndham reported that we abandoned the property. What property we didn’t own a damn thing.” Then there is the experience of WB: If you ever hear the words, Diamond Resorts RUN like hell. They are the biggest schemers in the world. They take your life from you. They make you feel like you are getting a lifetime full of vacations. But, you are only getting yourself in MAJOR debt for life. Plus, they never even give you a chance to even stay at their Resort, not even one time… After forging our signatures on their paperwork we were never even allowed to stay there not even one night. Every time we tried to book there, they put us on hold and never returned back to the telephone.” We would be frustrated too if we paid for a timeshare we couldn’t use. If you are having trouble booking your timeshare getaway for the holidays, tell us about it. The American Resort Development Association (ARDA) represents timeshare companies in Washington, DC. Jason Gamel is the President and CEO of ARDA. Maybe he should hear how these sales tactics impact the lives of real people, not just the bottom line of timeshare companies. Let’s email him at jgamel@arda.org. Or… here is a list ARDA published of its VIPs across all its member companies.
