Running out the clock can be a pretty good strategy in sports.
Turns out, denying your opponent what they need until time runs out can be a pretty profitable business strategy too – at least at Capital Vacations.
Karalee and Jack definitely came out on the losing end when Capital Vacations ran out the clock with them, so they wrote to their attorney general in Missouri to cry foul.
“We are coming to you, our state Attorney General, and asking you to look into Capital Vacations and the scam this company is running.”
“We originally owned a timeshare at Stormy Point Village and were convinced to upgrade to Capital points, once Capital took over.”
“We were told during one of the upgrades that we would have to own and pay on it for a year before we would be able to get out of it. After waiting that year and going back to another meeting they told us that was not correct information.”
Capital Vacations changed the rules mid-game!
“We upgraded again and tried to call the salesman back to cancel and he said he would return our call in a couple of days.
A classic stall tactic.
“We called again once we got home, and he said he would call us back the next day. We never heard from him again.”
That’s a full-fledged delay of game penalty!
“Now the rescission period has passed and of course, they refuse to cancel.”
“The irony of owning this now is that we can’t even afford to go on vacation.”
We hope for Karalee and Jack’s sake the Missouri Attorney General will finally blow the whistle on Capital Vacations.
In the meantime, let’s tell Travis Bary, the co-president of Capital Vacations, that he and his team are way out of bounds by emailing him at tbary@capitalvacations.com .
We should also try to get Jason Gamel off the sidelines. He’s the President and CEO of the American Resort Development Association (ARDA), which represents timeshare companies in Washington, DC. Email him at jgamel@arda.org to see if he’ll ask Travis Bray and Capital Vacations to play fair.
